Problem Note 55334: SAS® Environment Manager opens direct connections to spawned SAS® IOM servers (for example, SAS® Workspace Server), causing multiple connections

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS ® Environment Manager opens direct connections to spawned SAS® Integration Object Model (IOM) servers (for example, SAS Workspace Server, SAS® Pooled Workspace, and SAS® Stored Process Server) to gather metrics and perform health checks. The extra client connections cause some undesirable consequences such as the following:

  • The SAS Stored Process Server attempts to start every minute and fails.
  • SAS Environment Manager launches jobs to the SAS Pooled Workspace Servers and SAS Stored Process Servers, but the jobs are never shown as being complete.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

When you install this hot fix, metrics are no longer collected for these five reports:

  • IOM Server Call Activity
  • IOM Server Client Activity
  • IOM Server Summary Reports
  • IOM Total Calls and Time in Calls
  • IOM Total Calls vs Time in Calls

The hot fix does NOT remove these reports from Report Center. Therefore, you still see the reports listed in Report Center. If you select one of the reports, you see output indicating that the specific metrics are not available in the data mart.

To delete these reports, complete these steps:

  1. Obtain a good backup of the metadata.
  2. Select SAS Management Console ► SAS Folders ► Products ► SAS Environment Manager ► Nightly Reports ► ACM Reports.
  3. Delete the reports.
